A blogger’s hobby becomes a valuable war reporting tool

Based on a radio interview with me, BBC/ Radio Public International reporter David Leveille published an article on GeoTagging in Syria and Iraq.

He writes: “When the Syrian regime launched chemical attacks last year, it wasn’t the CIA or MI6 who confirmed the news for the world. Instead, Internet obsessives like Eliot Higgins used images, videos and maps to fill in the details. Now their methods are becoming important tools for journalism.”

You can listen to my interview on BBC/RPI’s “The World” show or read the full story. “The World” airs on radio stations throughout the U.S., for example on WNYC in New York.

The interview is based on an article I wrote for The Washington Post.
